1. Overview

Distilla is a mobile application that records audio conversations, transcribes them, and generates summaries using Google Gemini artificial intelligence. User privacy is our top priority: Distilla does not collect, store, or transmit personal data to any servers owned by SA Tech Lab.

2. Data collected and processed

2.1 Recorded audio

Audio is recorded locally on the user’s device.
The audio file is transmitted directly to Google’s servers via the Gemini API, using the user’s personal API key.
The temporary audio file is automatically deleted from the device after processing or within 24 hours.
SA Tech Lab does not receive, store, or have access to any audio files.

2.2 Transcriptions and summaries

Transcriptions and summaries generated by Gemini are saved exclusively on the user’s device.
SA Tech Lab has no access to transcriptions or summaries.
Users can delete any history entry at any time from within the app.

2.3 Gemini API key

The API key provided by the user is stored locally on the device using Android Keystore (flutter_secure_storage).
The key is never transmitted to SA Tech Lab servers.
The key is used solely to authenticate requests to the Google Gemini API.

2.4 Data we do NOT collect

Distilla does not collect:

Personal identification data (name, email, phone number)
Geographic location data
Usage data or telemetry
Advertising identifiers
Device information sent to external servers
Cookies or tracking technologies

3. Third-party services

Google Gemini API

Distilla uses the Google Gemini API to process audio. When the user initiates an analysis, the audio file is transmitted directly to Google. Google’s data processing is governed by:

Users are responsible for obtaining their own Gemini API key and complying with Google’s terms of service.

4. Permissions requested

No other permissions are requested.

5. Data security

The API key is protected by Android Keystore, a secure storage system provided by the Android operating system.
Communications with the Google API occur exclusively over encrypted HTTPS connections.
Local data (history, summaries) is not additionally encrypted, but remains within the app’s private storage area, inaccessible to other apps.

6. Data retention

7. User rights

Users have full control over all their data:

Access: all data is visible within the app (history).
Deletion: each history entry can be individually deleted. Uninstalling the app removes all local data.
Portability: transcriptions can be copied or shared using the built-in sharing feature.

Since SA Tech Lab does not store user data, we cannot process requests for access, rectification, or deletion of data held by SA Tech Lab.

8. Children’s privacy

Distilla is not intended for users under the age of 13. The app does not knowingly collect data from minors. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided data through the app, please contact us at the address below.

9. Changes to this policy

SA Tech Lab reserves the right to update this Privacy Policy. Significant changes will be communicated via an app update. The date of the last update is shown at the top of this document.
